What to Expect

 

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for your visit so that you can have time to fill out a new client form and use the restroom if needed.  If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late you may not be able to receive the full scheduled time. 

 

I will show you to the massage room and discuss with you your goals for the session.  I will ask if there are specific areas of concern that you may have and the best ways we can address them.

 

After we have discussed your goals, I will leave the massage room so that you may undress to your comfort level and slip under the covers.  Most people undress completely or leave on their underwear, however undressing is not required.  I can massage through your clothing the areas you would like worked and/or I can use oil or cream for exposed areas.

 

Please let me know if there are areas of your body that you would not like touched or massaged--such as your face, head, and gluts.  I do not massage high on the hips, the gluts, or near the breasts (under the shoulder blades) on children, young adults, or people that are apprehensive to massage.  I will never touch the genital area or the breasts.  I normally do not massage the belly unless you ask.  If I feel it would be beneficial to massage an area such as the gluts or belly, I will always ask first if you are comfortable with it.

 

During your massage please let me know if you get uncomfortable in any way (too much or too little pressure, feeling too hot or too cool, need a pillow, a tissue etc.). My goal is to help you feel great and have a positive experience!    

 

Deep Tissue Massage:

 

If you experience a lot of chronic pain and tension please don't be discouraged if you still have tension after one deep tissue massage.  I may ask you to come back again within a few days or a week so that you can get the full benefit.  (It is also a good idea to plan ahead a monthly visit). If you are unable to come back again soon I usually recommend using a heating pad, taking a hot bath or shower, or using cold packs at home to lessen tension or pain.  After a deep tissue massage you may feel some soreness the next day.  Please drink plenty of water after your massage to rehydrate your body and lessen soreness.
